“They treated my family member with a lot of love.”
At times it may be necessary to temporarily place a patient in a care facility, in order to address short term pain control or management of acute or chronic symptoms that cannot be managed on routine hospice care. In this case, the patient and family may agree to arrangements for the patient to be transferred or admitted to inpatient status in an acute care hospital with whom Aria Hospice has a contract for inpatient services, or a skilled nursing facility (Nursing Home) with which Aria Hospice has a contract for inpatient services.
Inpatient Hospice Care is performed for a brief period of time that is necessary to manage acute symptoms in a clinical setting with a 24-hour nurse on staff. It may be required for certain procedures that require a higher level of nursing care to manage pain or symptoms. Once the symptoms are addressed, the patient can return to the comfort of his or her home and go back to routine home care.
As is in the case of Respite Care for Primary Caregivers, inpatient care is provided a maximum of five days during each period of hospice certification, or every 90 or 60 days of hospice service.
