“They treated my family member with a lot of love.”
What is Respite Care for Hospice Caregivers?
The word “respite” means rest or relief. Respite care is a gift of time or “relief” to offer rest or relief to the patient’s family/caregivers. Respite Care is for a maximum of five days in order to give a caregiver temporary short term assistance in caring for a loved one who has a terminal illness. Caregiver burnout and stress can interfere with your ability to provide care to your loved one. Respite Care allows the caregiver time away from the patient and even vice versa.
